Low Enrollment Courses
|
|
Courses with less than 8 students are considered
"low enrollment courses." A preponderance of such courses within
a department is viewed negatively and reduces the budget
allocations to the department. If an offered course has an
enrollment of less than eight, it will be brought before the
curriculum committee to determine appropriate action. Possible
actions may include offer despite low enrollment, cancellation,
less frequent offering, alteration in time of offering, or
course modifications. |

Request to Change Quarter When Course
Offered |
| The
Master Schedule is set 2 quarters in advance. In other words, if
you want to offer a course in Fall, the change needs to set at
the BEGINNING of Spring quarter to be reflected correctly in the
Master Schedule. This means the request for the change should be
made to the curriculum committee THREE QUARTERS in advance to
allow the committee sufficient time to consider the request.
To
request the move of a course from one quarter to another, submit
a written request to the
chairperson of the
curriculum committee at least three quarters in advance
of the desired change. There is no form for this request. Simply
submit your request with an explanation as to why you would like
to make the change. The committee will consider you request and
balance it against the needs of the overall curriculum.
To
change when a course is offered WITHIN a quarter, submit a
written request to the
Master Scheduler at least
three quarters in advance of the desired change. The
Master Scheduler will consider the offerings of other courses
that quarter and work with you to find an alternate time that
meets your needs without conflicting with the other required
courses within the Food Science majors |
|

Request for a 694 |
| FST
694 courses are requested in much the same way as new courses
and are used for trial runs. A course cannot be offered more
than twice as a 694 and it is not meant to be a permanent
solution for a course approval. Requests for a new 694 must be
made at least one full quarter in advance of the desired
change. New proposals must first be made to the departmental
curriculum committee before moving on to the CFAES Academic
Affairs committee, then the University Academic Affairs
committee.
To
propose a new 694, fill out a New Course Request form and attach
a copy of the new syllabus. This information should be submitted
to the
chairperson of the
curriculum committee at least one full quarter in advance
of the desired change. |
