Congratulations to the OSU Dairy Products Judging TeamIt is a great pleasure to inform you that our undergraduate students Kate Boland, Emily Buxton, Mary Ann Lang, Amanda Davis (alternate) and graduate student Jennifer Diehl did an excellent job representing Ohio State at the 80th Collegiate Dairy Products Evaluation Contest in Chicago last Saturday, October 22, 2001. The contest was part of the 2001 Worldwide Food Expo held at the McCormick Place. Our team competed against 19 university teams from the U.S. and Canada. Our Ohio State team achieved 3rd in two products (milk and ice cream), and 5th in yogurt. Our team ranked 5th in the country overall. Student members shined individually in several categories: Kate Boland ranks 1st in milk (congratulations to the best milk taster in the country), 7th in yogurt and 9th in the country overall. Emily Buxton ranks 9th in yogurt and 10th in ice cream, and Mary Ann Lang 6th in ice cream. Jenny Diehl performed brilliantly in the graduate student category, ranking 2nd in both cottage and cheddar cheeses. Jenny ranked 4th in the nation overall. Additionally, Emily Buxton received the “Joe Larson Merit Award” that honors the undergraduate student displaying the most professional appearance and attitude during the contest.
